Council for Older Adults Hires Chef
The Council for Older Adults has announced the hiring of local Chef, Dan Myers to fill the newly created position of Chef Supervisor at the Council’s new Senior Service Facility, 800 Cheshire Rd. in Delaware.
Chef Dan is a well known chef in the community and comes with over 30 years of experience in food management. He has previously owned and operated 4 restaurants with a staff of 155 employees. Dan worked 6 years as Chef /Manager operating and rebuilding Eckel’s Lake Lodge. Since that time, he has served as Chef to a large number of clients at several local venues. He was awarded the Entrepreneur of the Year Award in 1993 by the Honorable Vern Riffe. ‘We are thrilled that Chef Dan has joined our team, said Bob Horrocks, director of the Council for Older Adults. We have a lot to be accomplished before and after we open our kitchen and I can not think of a better person for the job”, he said.
Chef Dan will be responsible for all aspects of food preparation and kitchen operations of the production kitchen for the Council for Older Adults Senior Nutrition Program. His duties will also include overseeing the Cafe in the new complex which is planned to open in November.
At the new location, the Council’s Senior Nutrition program will enable expanded nutrition services and options for older adults throughout the county. Initially over 14,000 meals per month will be delivered by a team of more than 190 volunteers to home bound seniors and community dining centers. This new facility will include a state-of-the-art kitchen, volunteer staging area and a large community room.
Chef Dan grew up in Southern Ohio. He graduated from Shawnee State University in Portsmouth, Ohio.
His wife Donna, of 30 years, is a retired Speech Therapist working for a local school system and has 3 daughters and two grandchildren.
