Council for Older Adults Honors Local Volunteers
The Council for Older Adults will hold its annual Volunteer Recognition Day Luncheon on April 30 at the new Center for Older Adults, 800 Cheshire Road in Delaware. Celebrated in conjunction with National Volunteer Week, April 27th through May 3rd, this event gives us a formal opportunity to recognize and thank our many volunteers for their support. All attending Council volunteers will be given special gifts and certificates of appreciation for their volunteer service during 2007.
This year’s luncheon will feature the theme “Volunteers are Priceless Treasures” and will include a costume judging contest and entertainment. The buffet style luncheon will begin at 1:30 p.m. and will be followed by the awards ceremony which will recognize several of our volunteers who have made exceptional contributions to our organization.
Our group of nearly 700 dedicated volunteers, ranging from 6 to 90 years old, includes our volunteer Board of Directors and others that may work weekly delivering meals, monthly to help with various tasks in and out of our office, or one day a year helping with our annual Summer Festival.
The Council for Older Adults has a variety of volunteer positions available, including drivers who deliver meals for the Council’s Food & Nutritional Services and volunteers to work at the Summer Festival. For more information on volunteer positions, call the Council office at (740) 363-6677.
The Council for Older Adults of Delaware County is a non-profit local organization responsible for planning, coordinating and developing local services for older adults, their families and caregivers in Delaware County. The Council is the home of SENIOR CHOICES, the local one stop center for information, assistance and in-home services. The Senior Choices program is supported, in part, through the local senior services levy.
