Volunteers will make sure the event runs smoothly and that the visitors enjoy a sociable evening out, while supporting the cause and services of the Council for Older Adults.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

·        Ability to get along with others and greet and direct visitors

·        Ability to maintain confidentiality

·        Ability to communicate effectively and verbally and to follow directions, often over walkie-talkies

·        Willing to commit at least 2 hours, one day a year

·        Ability to recruit, mentor and train additional volunteers

·        Be knowledgeable of the Delaware County Fairgrounds format and the lay-out of the event.

·        Other duties could include handling cash, making change, recording monetary transactions and traffic/parking.

 

DUTIES:

·        Attend volunteer orientation and other trainings relevant to the event as required by the Council for Older Adults.

·        Comply with established policy and procedures of the Council for Older Adults and any subsequent procedures of the Delaware County Fairgrounds.

·        Other duties as assigned could include, directing traffic and visitors, assisting with drawings or appraisals, registration and direction of volunteers, vendors and health fair screeners, or assisting vendors, screeners, caterers and entertainers,  ticket sales, assisting with the car show, and set-up or tear down of the event.

 

TRAINING REQUIREMENT: Volunteer Mission, Vision and Values Orientation, Summer Festival training

 

TIME FRAME:

This is a one day, 5 hour event on a Friday evening in June, however some volunteers will work during daytime hours on the day prior and/or the day of the event.  Most volunteer positions are 2-3 hours in length.
